At My Holistic Nurse we approach patient care a little bit differently!
We know that people are amazing, strong individuals who may have experienced severe and abnormal situations outside of their control, rather than being broken or ‘crazy’.
Our Trauma-Informed Framework
The My Holistic Nurse trauma informed clinic and online training platforms are there to help resource you for resilience, self-acceptance, stress-management, confidence and personal power. We do all that we can to ensure you feel safe in our spaces using a “trauma-informed” care framework.
Safety first approach - We focus on your personal needs first using methods and protocols to ensure you feel safe. This includes not going into the deep end if you aren’t ready, observing our voice and demeanour, and considering the clinic space and minimising the impact it may have on you.
Soothing Spaces - Consideration is given to the design and sensory conditions within our physical space. We have low lighting (no fluorescent lights), soft or no music, a cosy place to sit and trauma-informed furniture placement so you can feel safe wherever you sit. If you’re struggling with anxiety or isolation we offer tele-health services so you can get help from home and build your toolkit of management tools, so that you can eventually be strong, resilient and confident to get back into the world.
Trustworthiness - We are a safe, 100% confidential space. We only go as fast or as slow as you are comfortable with, we use your language to help understanding, and we lead the sessions or treatments based on your needs and beliefs, not the therapists’.
Your experiences within our care are offered with no-judgement and compassion. We put our loving energy and quality time in creating a therapeutic relationship with you; one which feels safe, empowering and positive.
Choice - You are a sovereign being at the centre of your own life, complete with innate knowing and the inherent capacity for healing. We will empower your ability to make the best choices for your care. We offer you choices of holistic training, therapy and tools that support your rights and enhance your capacity and confidence to choose your own care.
We are transparent with the relevance of the decisions around what trauma is treated and when; sometimes we will follow your process, and sometimes it will be more appropriate to professionally assess when it is appropriate and safe to ‘go there’.
Consent - Nothing happens in our work together without your consent. You are in complete control of your sessions and you will always be asked before any intervention if you feel comfortable to proceed.
Collaboration - We are your partner in your care, not your boss! We’re here to collaborate with you to plan a unique process, program and pace for training or therapy that you'll be comfortable with. Our therapeutic relationship means we are working WITH you, not 'fixing' you.. you're not broken, just needing some support to find your personal power.
Lived-Experience, Research + Training - We have personally experienced trauma, so we understand how pervasive it is and how it affects all body systems, and we can help you come to a better place within your mind, emotions, body and soul too.
Our team frequently engages in research and upskilling to ensure current understanding of trauma, stress and associated conditions.
